Tips For Your Trip

By

Posted in Caribbean On February 24, 2020

Planning a trip can be confusing at times because of all the different options and islands to choose from, so we have put together this handy guide to help you narrow down which I you would like to visit!

Start off this new year and decade by planning a fun trip to the Caribbean and even use it as an inquiry style trip where you can research whether or not if you would like to live on the particular island you are visiting. Kill 2 birds with 1 stone!

Let’s dive in!

Here are a couple sites that can act as a great guide to the Caribbean with lots of information which can help you plan your visit.

Tip: The best months to visit almost any island for low risk of rain is January through April.

Hey Ushmobi, what is the most expensive Caribbean island ?

We came across this website which lays it all out for you, they list by island, the average daily travel price, per person, per day.

Cheapest Island: Cuba

Most Expensive Island: Barbados

Don’t forget to feed the pigs in the Bahamas!

The people over at Priceoftravel.com did a really good job with this breakdown of the different islands and the cost of flights, rooms, etc..

When it comes to visiting a destination in the Caribbean, one area that needs to be considered is the cost of travel because not every city has a reliable public transportation system or even Uber. It is important that you take that into consideration because if you end up in a city that doesn’t have reliable public transportation or Uber you will have to  pay for taxis. A taxi ride in the Caribbean isn’t always cheap, sure some can cost you $2 US Dollars and others can cost you up to $35 US Dollars one way! You can try the popular apps Uber, Lyft and InDriver if you don’t want to take a taxi. Also, you need to check first to see if the country you are going to go visit has any ride sharing services or if you will just have to use a taxi ( or rent a car ) due to lack of a reliable public transportation system.

Hey Ushmobi, when should we NOT plan to visit the Caribbean?

Hurricane season is from June 1 to November 30 so be sure to plan accordingly.

For those of you that want to veer off the beaten path and see something that isn’t a mainstream tourist destination, then we would suggest checking out this list here. It can be great visiting a smaller beach with not as many people. That is more peace and quiet for you, more tranquil, it can do the soul some good.

Don’t forget to check out this great breakdown of the islands, Lonelyplanet.com did a great job with this list!

Tip: A great resource of information is Facebook groups. We suggest joining a group for the destination that you desire to travel to. From our experience people will be happy to answer your answer your questions and give you tips of where to go and what to watch out for.

Not planning your trip can cost you once you arrive in the most precious resource of all, time. So it is extremely important you research, plan accordingly and if possible, consult with a few people who have vacationed in the desired destination you have chosen. Learning from previous experiences of others can be priceless, they can tell you all sorts of things they learned which can save you time and hassle from trying to figure things out on your own.  Asking a travel agents for advice can also be beneficial. In the end your trip has a higher chance of being more smooth now that you are armed with the right knowledge.
